- The CAT 2017 slot 2 is going on right now. CAT is a digital or Computer Based Test (CBT) being held for the admission to various masters programmes in Business schools across India. Overall, according to Career Launcher, CAT 2017 exam was slightly easier than its 2016 edition. It also said the level of difficulty is also same as last year.

In VARC(Slot 2m question id : 4891686017), the wimbeldon set odd one out questions states that the option 4 ( Once he had survived the opening week, the second week witnessed the range of a rested Federer's genius), has been marked as the odd sentence. However according to the flow of other sentences in the paragraph, it is evident that the paragraph is talking about the success of Federer in the recently held Wimbeldon. The 5th option talks about the reasons as to why he will be successful in future, and not about the wimbeldon performance. So should'nt 5th option be the odd one here.
1. In the LRDI section of slot 1, the question on flights- the minimum number of 'DIRECT FLIGHTS to be scheduled' should be 9*10=90 (though the minimum number of ' DIRECT FLIGHT TRIPS' is 180) if we assume that the flights which were sent from, say city ‘A'
to city ‘B' in the morning, the same flight is used for coming to city ‘A' from city ‘B' in the evening. This is very practical and does not violate the condition given in the question.2.In slot 1 RC question on Maps, I believe the answer to the question that asks ' purpose of the passage'- the answer should be ' It explores some myths about maps' and not 'It corrects a misconception…'. The reasoning is that the passage completely talks about various myths prevailing at different places based on which people prepared their maps.

The question on Simple Happiness Index in slot 1 was totally wrong. There were 3 countries in total having the highest total score of 17 and the breakup of each of them contained the highest score in exactly one parameter so options can be 746 or 575(SFC).{As 664 won't be an option as this will violate the point 3 in the question and also 655 adds up to only 16, so all 3 countries need to have a 7 which is not there in the table} As there is no other option and only 2 ‘seven' scores for S and F are there, there cannot be a C having a 7 for the third country, thus violating the logic. I found many such worng questions in the paper.

CAT 2017 Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension Analysis
Contrary to expectation (which was based on the sample paper), there were a few surprises in this section. The summary questions became MCQ based and carried negative marking. The passages were easy to read but the options were deceptively close. They were so tricky that the section became time consuming.
Cat 2018 Slot 2 Answer Key
Out of the five passages, only one was a tedious read. The passages came from expected areas like Economics, Biology, Current Technical Trend etc. One passage was on creativity which was very interesting. One passage on typewriters was really short in length (around 250 words). Around 16 out of 24 questions were based on main idea and inference. The other questions were factual in nature. Tone questions remained absent. In almost 12-13 questions, two options were almost identical. Hence, it became extremely time consuming to answer these.
Cat 2017 Slot 2 Answer Key Download
The four subjective para jumble questions were, as per expectation, time consuming and futile. A student should have just guessed these and concentrated on RCs. The three odd sentence para jumble questions were really easy.
The three summary questions carried negative marks. And the topics were very tedious to read. In one summary question, all the options were identical as they started with the same stem. Hence, a student should have read the questions carefully.
The overall difficulty level of the section is moderate. A good attempt will be 25-27 with around 90% accuracy.
Surprises: The section was not an exact replica of last year. Idea based questions dominated. Summary questions carried negative marks.

CAT 2017 Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning Analysis
In this section 2 sets were easy (Pizza, Chess) and three based on Dorms, Asset Management and Teas had about 2-3 questions each that were solvable. The airplane set was doable but lengthy. 14-16 questions, in this section, should be attempted with 85% accuracy to get a 99%ile

Identifying the 2 sitters was the key. All other sets had about 2 solvable questions
CAT 2017 Quantitative Ability Analysis
There were 34 questions of QA. There were 8 Questions of Non MCQ type and the rest were MCQs. The difficulty level was similar to the morning slot. The questions were designed to test the grasp of basic fundamentals. In some of MCQs, options were very helpful to get the answer. Arithmetic and Algebra dominated with about 22 questions from these topics There were just 4-5 questions in Geometry and Mensuration combined| Section | Topic | No. of Questions | Doable |

Questions in Algebra were focused on Inequalities and Quadratic equations. Arithmetic questions were focused on Commercial Math, TSD and ratios. There were a good number of questions from Geometry. 22-25 attempts with 90% accuracy should suffice for 99%ile.
